He traveled around Shinshu for months but couldn't find Shippei Taro anywhere. Next year when it was getting near Mitsuke Tenjin festival, the traveling priest finally knew that there was a temple called Kozenji at the foot of Mt. Komagatake(駒ヶ岳). He rushed to the temple to meet Shippei Taro. Amazingly Shippei Taro was not a man at all but a huge male dog...as big as a calf. It might not be even a dog but a real wolf. Also, he was called Hayataro(早太郎) there, not Shippei Taro. The unsui told the chief priest of Kozenji, who was the master of the dog, the reason why he had been looking for the dog and asked the priest to lend him Hayatoro for help. His master told Hayataro to accompany the unsui and Hayataro growled as if he could have understood all. They left the temple on that day and hurried to Mitsuke.
The unsui and Hayataro got to the village on the festival day. He told the people what he had seen one year before.
