Maruko: ‘Hi, Tamae. You look so happy. What are you doing?’

 Tamae: ‘I am reading a book. This book is very interesting. I think you’ll like it.’

Maruko: ‘Oh, really? What book are you reading?’

Tamae: ‘Hmm…       By the way, aren’t you from Shizuoka?’

Maruko: ‘Yes. But, why do you ask me such a question?’

Tamae: ‘This book is written about the character of the people of a prefecture. According to this book, a person’s character is related to his birthplace.  In Shizuoka’s case, the character is an indecisive personality.’

Maruko: ‘Indecisive? What do you mean by that?’

Tamae: ‘Indecisive means “characterized by indecision” The proverb says that if you can’t beat them, join them.’

Maruko: ‘I see, but I’m not glad to hear that. I have heard that blood type is a popular way to find out people's character.’

Tamae: ‘I’ve heard that, too. Which is better, the blood type or the birthplace?’

Maruko: ‘In my opinion, the diagnosis of the blood type is as ambiguous as the character of the people of a prefecture. Shall we check out someone else’s character?’

Tamae: ‘Oh, it's a great idea!’

Maruko: ‘Ahaha!!!! It is right! I’m sure he has an obstinate personality. How about Oita
Prefecture? Mr. Otsuka, our science teacher, is from Oita.’

Tamae: ‘Well… The character of Oita is individualism. That’s right. This book is great! Mr. Shirahata, the English teacher is from Shizuoka, too. Do you think he has an indecisive personality?’
