Ten years later on a spring day, a certain traveling priest dropped into the temple and asked a favor. He wanted to stay at the temple for a few days. Teraotoko(a temple employee) felt something was creepy about him but the osho didn't mind. He answered," I'm sorry we cannot serve you well but you may stay here as long as you want." The priest smiled and sat down at the entrace to take off his dusty traveling shoes.
  Three days later, the teraotoko was dozing off in the spring sunlight at the engawa(a veranda-like porch). Mike was staying at engawa, too. Then the cat from next door came and talked to Mike.
"I'm going to visit the Shrine of Ise(伊勢). Will you join me?".
"No, I don't think so." Mike answered," I wish I could go with you but now I can't."
"Why not?" asked the neighbor cat.
"I'm worried about Osho these days," Mike replied.
  They continued to talk in whispers till the neighbor cat went home.
The teraotoko heard their conversation half asleep and thought in a dream that there was such a strange thing as cats that talked in human language. (next)
