Explanation

He lived in Tokyo during the Meiji period. He stayed in Yaizu for several summers. He came from Tokyo and enjoyed staying at a fish merchant’s house. Every day, he took walks around the old town of Yaizu and enjoyed talking with the people there. He also loved swimming in Suruga Bay.
He wrote famous stories such as Miminashi Hoichi, Yuki-onna, and Mujina. He also wrote about Yaizu in some of his essays. Through his works, we can clearly imagine what Yaizu was like and how people lived in those days.
