He came from Tokyo and enjoyed staying at a fish merchant's house.
Every day he took a walk around the old Yaizu town and enjoyed talking to the people there.
He also loved swimming in the Suruga Bay on the Yaizu seashore.
He wrote famous stories like Miminashi Hoichi, Yukionna, Mujina and so on.
He introduced Yaizu in some of his essays. So through his works we can imagine vividly how the old Yaizu town was and how the people lived their lived in those days.
